Purchasing Manager - Construction

We require an experienced Purchasing Manager with a strong knowledge base in construction to join our team and take us to the next level as we continue to grow.

This role comes with the expectations of the individual being well versed in supplier/vendor negotiations and cost analysis, both internal and project related. This is a role for someone who is highly skilled in multi-tasking and working proactively in a reactive environment. This role from time to time will include site visits to ensure that materials being ordered and/or installed are accurate; a background in construction is essential.

Essential Functions:

Accountable for the establishment, implementation and maintenance of an efficient and effective supply chain base through the selection, qualification and ongoing management of suppliers. This will include the development, implementation and execution of processes with internal and external customers to address supplier pre-qualification, delivery, performance, quality, best value, service, technical improvements, safety and other related items.Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company's needs.Identify new suppliers and vendors, agree upon terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates.Negotiate blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitor cost during the time period, Negotiate master agreements with subcontractor providers.Coordinate with field supervisors for product needs and delivery scheduling.Supervise preparation of Purchase Orders, Supply Agreements and/or other agreement forms. Supervise preparation of work orders and follows up orders to expedite delivery and shipment.Obtains certifications of delivery and conducts check against order, and maintains ongoing inventoryEnsure project cost requirements are met and coding procedures are followed.Checks and approves for payment invoices for orders placed.Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation.Other duties that may be assigned including staff supervision, warehouse maintenance and fleet management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

6 or more years of experience in purchasing/procurement and expediting materialsField experience in construction or building essentialTechnical school diploma and working towards SCMP certification preferredCommitted team player who is able to work without close supervisionStrong time management/coordination skillsClear communication skills both verbal and writtenExcellent skills in Microsoft office and procurement software.Warehouse management an assetVehicle fleet management experience an assetValid Ontario Drivers license essential Forklift truck license an asset
