Construction Project Management 201Course
Oct 10, 11 & 19, 2017 8:30am - 4pm(3 full day course)
Building on the principles learned in Construction 101, an introduction to the construction industry created by the Canadian Construction Association, Construction Project Management 201 begins at "ground zero" of a successful win on a project.
Through an in-depth review of contractual roles and responsibilities, participants can set realistic expectations of commitments and understand team members' different perspectives. Cost Control, including analysis of Class C, B and A budgets, combined with "street" bidding and varying forms of project delivery will be explored for a sample ICI project in the $3 million to $5 million range.
Exploring risk from different perspectives and defined metrics is key to a successful project. It determines "go and no go" decisions, which will be introduced to the student. A basic introduction to the Harvard program on negotiation (PON) will form part of the course, as well as interactive group exercises to refine negotiating skills essential to the daily decision making in a complex construction environment.
Note - after 2nd day of the course, participants will bring home a few assignments/exercises to complete OFFSITE before the last day of the course.
This course is Gold Seal certified, 5 credits.
Who should attend: Contract Administrators in GC, sub-contractors offices, public and private owners, project delivery representatives.
It is recommended to have taken Construction 101 course in advance of this course – but it is not required.
